Chapters & learning objectives
1. Evolution of Flexor Tendon Rehabilitation and Fundamental Concepts
Current rehabilitation protocols have evolved as surgical advances have been made. Fundamental concepts will be introduced that allow the therapist to understand what influences tendon rehabilitation.
2. Therapist Considerations When Establishing a Treatment Plan
After obtaining surgical information, therapists must make decisions based on client factors and current evidence. These considerations will be introduced to assist therapists in establishing safe and effective treatment plans.
3. Determining Progression of Therapy Program
Current evidence will be presented that will help therapists to progress clients throughout the rehabilitation process. Prevention of secondary complications that can delay clients’ return to occupational performance will be discussed.
4. Special Considerations to Increase Adherence to Therapy Program
Health literacy and adherence will be introduced and explored as it relates to treating clients with complex injuries. These emerging topics and their impact on therapeutic outcomes will be discussed.
