This course will focus on providing a comprehensive approach to people with balance challenges who are functioning at the wheelchair level. The primary concentration will be for people with neurologic deficits, as well as the aging adult. The assessment process will start with movement analysis and determining the "why" of the balance deficit. Examples of intervention progressions will be demonstrated. In addition, multiple options for including motor learning strategies will be included throughout the demonstrations, resulting in multiple treatment ideas that can be incorporated into the therapist’s next treatment session.

Chapters & learning objectives
1. Assessment of Balance
There are many reasons patients can lose their balance. This chapter will emphasize the importance of the process of analyzing movement as well as incorporating the findings from a comprehensive assessment to focus interventions and improve outcome measures.
2. Alignment and Posture
Prepping your patient to have the best alignment possible and increasing the length of necessary muscles can be key to optimizing your outcomes depending on your patient presentation. This chapter will address ways to improve posture while increasing core strength. The chapter will also provide multiple options for challenges that can be performed by a person who is limited to a wheelchair for mobility.
3. Motor Learning Techniques
There are many activities you can perform when a person is at a wheelchair level. Multiple motor learning considerations that address intensity, error, and motivation will be reviewed in this chapter.
